Sometimes referred to as Shot or Steel Shot, tumbling shot is available in 2 grades; carbon steel, tumbling steel media and stainless steel, tumbling stainless steel media. Tumbling media is used for burnishing and finishing of various metals. A heat treating process insures the hardness of the steel, forming a tough and durable media. The use of this heavy media, hammers the surface of the parts being burnished, making it possible to achieve excellent results. Steel media will need extra care and maintenance to prevent any contamination or rust, especially during storage, but stainless steel doesn't require special maintenance.
